La Conca de Barberà is an inland region which is located in the south-western part of Catalonia. It is one of the Catalan regions which is most clearly defined geographically. It is one of the oldest ones from a historical point of view (its name was already in use in the 17th century). The name of the region does not come from its chief town (Montblanc), but from a small municipality called Barberà de la Conca.
