The region of la Terra Alta offers a variety of landscapes that have been conserved in an almost unchanging state. Besides the small plains on which the traditional crops of grapes, olives, almonds and hazelnuts are grown, you will find extremely wild countryside such as the sierras of Pàndols and Cavalls, Santa Bàrbara Mountain and Les Roques de Benet.
The towns and villages in the twelve municipal districts making up the comarca are generally quite small. However, they contain spots of great beauty reminding visitors of times gone by, as they still retain to a large extent their peculiar medieval imprint, with their narrow streets, archways and arcades. You can go all the way from the Iber period to the famous Modern Style period in just 743,04 square kilometres. But we must not forget its visiting card: wine. It is no coincidence that it is in this comarca that you can find the so-called "cathedral of wine".
